2. Redskins must continue to add new wrinkles in the rushing offense

Does anyone else remember when “Dwayne Haskins can’t run/isn’t mobile” was one of the common misconceptions about him? Well, it turns out Haskins can run, and effectively when he chooses to, though he has said he prefers to throw it. Haskins was able to run off the option, showing incredible shake on one before pitching it, and keeping it for a 23-yard gain on another.

Early on the season, they were able to run Steven Sims Jr. on some plays to add a wrinkle in the offense, but he hasn’t had a rushing attempt since the 49ers game. With his speed, they could use him in some jet sweeps or with their success last week, run the option with him getting the pitch this time. Whatever they do, the Redskins should continue to experiment with the rushing offense and look for new and creative ways to make plays off from it.

The Giants completely shut down the ‘Skins in the first game and gave up just 55 yards on 17 attempts at the Meadowlands. That cannot happen the second time around. The Redskins ran for 101 yards on 22 carries last week against an excellent Eagles’ run defensive front. If they can find a way to run the ball this time against the Giants, it will help keep a healthy balance on offense.
