Redskins Injury Report: Quinton Dunbar out, ‘Skins likely down top three corners
The Washington Redskins are going to be rolling out some unfamiliar faces at cornerback against the New York Giants, as Quinton Dunbar is out.
Heading into Week 16 against the New York Giants, it would be fair to say that the Washington Redskins secondary is in a state of disrepair. As it stands, they are likely to be down three cornerbacks.
Add in the facts that Simeon Thomas is suspended and that the team is virtually refusing to play Josh Norman, they are probably going to have to play somebody recently signed off the street in a pretty big role.
As Bill Callahan confirmed in a Friday press conference, Quinton Dunbar will be out with a hamstring injury while Fabian Moreau is listed as doubtful also with a hamstring. Those two had been starting as the outside corners for the Redskins in recent weeks but now, they’ll have to be replaced.

And so too will slot corner Jimmy Moreland, who was placed on IR earlier this week with a foot injury.
There are two obvious candidates to get extra playing time in the secondary off the bat. First is Danny Johnson, a former 2018 undrafted free agent who has spent two years with the club. He recently came off the PUP list and logged a career-high in tackles last week with 10 against the Eagles.
The other is Aaron Colvin, who the Redskins signed earlier this season after his release by the Houston Texans. Colvin has only played a total of 79 defensive snaps this season, but outside of Norman and Johnson, he has the most experience in the Washington system.
The final starting spot will likely come down to a battle between the recently-signed Coty Sensabaugh and Kayvon Webster. Both are veterans with a lot of NFL experience and their usage could depend on how the team wants to line up Colvin and Johnson. Sensabaugh has more experience on the outside, so if the team decides to play Colvin or Johnson in the slot, Sensabaugh may get the nod.
Either way, don’t expect to see much of Josh Norman on the field. Greg Manusky confirmed earlier in the week that Norman, who is expected to be cut by the Redskins after this season, will play a limited role moving forward even despite the injuries to the team’s secondary.
Though the Redskins will be shorthanded at cornerback, it does appear that Landon Collins will be playing despite some Achilles soreness. He’ll get a chance to get revenge on his former team, but hopefully, he won’t push it too much either.
