5. Dustin Hopkins makes five field goals

I’m expecting this to be a close game and I think that the Giants will find a way to limit the Redskins in the red zone.

Too often this season, the Redskins have sputtered when they’ve had chances to generate touchdowns. That’s part of the reason behind their midseason TD drought that spanned 16 quarters. While they’ve fixed that somewhat in recent weeks, it still has proven to be a problem.

It’s also worth noting that the Giants actually have the eighth-best red zone defense in the NFL when it comes to allowing TDs. They’ve allowed a TD on just 51.1 percent of their possessions down there. So, while they give up a lot of yardage, it doesn’t always come back to bite them.

Against the Giants, the Redskins may stall out a lot. They already have the fourth-worst red zone TD percentage in the league, so it’s fair to wonder if they’ll be able to convert. If they can’t, it will lead to a lot of field goal attempts. Dustin Hopkins has had a solid season, so he should be able to make them all, especially from close range.

Overall, we’ll predict that Hopkins makes five field goals during the game. He’ll help to keep the team alive in what figures to be a very competitive game against divisional rivals.
