The top of the draft order is always populated by the lowliest teams, and the quality of Sunday’s contest between the Redskins and the Giants will likely reflect that.

The Washington Redskins and New York Giants are both 3-11 through fourteen regular season games, but the ways in which they’ve gotten to this point are vastly different.

The Redskins went without a win until Week 6 against the Dolphins, and then again until a two-game streak in Weeks 12 and 13. The New York Giants, meanwhile, were 2-2 at one point, and a potential playoff sleeper. But since then, they’ve gone 1-9, and they were 0-9 in the weeks since, prior to their win against the Dolphins last week.

The Redskins have already made a midseason coaching change, and the Giants could be mulling over a similar move in the coming weeks. The Redskins have a young, learning quarterback, and so does New York. In a way, these teams are not so different. Perhaps they can empathize with each other’s failure.

But football isn’t about empathy. It’s about empires, and in Week 16, the Redskins will look to defend their own against the invading New York Giants. How do they stack up against the men from MetLife?
