Tress Way and Brandon Scherff will represent the Redskins at the 2020 Pro Bowl.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Washington Redskins best player has finally been recognized by fans and by his peers.

That’s right. Tress Way is going to the 2020 Pro Bowl.

The Redskins had two players make the cut among the 2020 Pro Bowl rosters. Way will be the NFC’s lone punter while Brandon Scherff will represent the team on the interior offensive line.

More from Commanders News

Way absolutely deserved the Pro Bowl nod. He is leading the NFL is punting average with a ridiculous 49.4 yards per punt. He also ranks second in net average at 43.6 yards per punt, trailing only Logan Cooke of the Jacksonville Jaguars (44.2).

Way has also continued to place punts inside the 20 with a remarkable rate of success. He has 26 punts down in that area this season with just two touchbacks. Last year, he led the league in punts inside the 20 with 41 yet didn’t have a single touchback. He was a Pro Bowl snub last year, so it’s nice to finally see him get the respect that he deserves.

As for Scherff, he is one of the better guards in football when healthy, so he probably got in because of the name recognition that comes with that. He was placed on IR on Tuesday, so it’s likely that he won’t participate in the Pro Bowl anyway.

The Redskins didn’t really have any Pro Bowl snubs this year. A case could have been made to include Quinton Dunbar or Matt Ioannidis on the rosters because of their solid performances this season. But neither was a shoo-in. Way was definitely the team’s most deserving player, so seeing him get in is good news.

UPDATE: The Redskins also had two alternates named for the Pro Bowl. Landon Collins will be the first alternate at safety while the aforementioned Ioannidis will be the fourth alternate on the defensive line.
