2. Redskins must do a better job of protecting Dwayne Haskins

Since he became the Redskins’ starter, Dwayne Haskins has been getting sacked a ton. Against the Packers on Sunday, he was sacked four more times and hit eight more.

A tweet from the Athletic’s Mark Bullock helps put some context on just how much he’s been getting hit.

The shocking rate at which Haskins is getting sacked cannot continue. Yes, the loss of Trent Williams hurts; the entire offensive line must play better if Haskins is going to be successful as a starter. Fletcher Cox had himself a day opening weekend. Washington must have a plan for him this time, or he’ll wreck the ‘Skins again.

The Eagles have a deep and talented defensive line so they can’t just focus on Cox alone. The Washington offensive line must win their individual matchups and communicate better to keep Haskins clean.

If the Redskins offensive line can keep Haskins from getting hit and keep him upright in the pocket while he goes through his progressions, it will undoubtedly help the passing game. Look for some screens and quick throws as well to help get the ball out of his hands fast and negate the rush. If he takes another beating this game, and Washington is routinely in down and distance again, the offense is going to struggle.
