No. 3 – Robert Davis scores a touchdown for the Eagles

You might remember Robert Davis. He was one of the stars of August for the Redskins, and one of the inspiring storylines of training camp. After essentially obliterating his entire leg in a non-contact injury last offseason, he miraculously worked back to full health before the start of preseason, and showed off his big play ability in preseason.

Davis made the initial 53-man roster as a result of his efforts, but just days later, he was cut due to injuries elsewhere, and signed to the practice squad. For the Giants game, Davis was elevated, and he caught the first reception of his NFL career, an eleven-yarder. But after that game, Davis would be waived, and he would not be brought back.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Davis to their practice squad shortly after, and yesterday, on December 12, he was elevated to their active roster. The elevation of Davis provides an exciting opportunity for the former sixth-round pick, as he’ll be one of just four Eagles receivers active on Sunday. Alshon Jeffrey is out for the rest of the year, and in his stead, Davis can be the big play threat the Eagles need.

The Redskins once found themselves infatuated with Davis’ physical traits; it’s hard to find a 6-foot-3, 210-pound receiver who has a 4.44 40-yard dash time and a 41-inch vertical. Davis has that speed and explosiveness to go with his size, and on Sunday, the Redskins may find themselves experiencing a different emotion as they watch him play in Eagle green.
