Dud No. 3 – The protection unit

Whether it was Dwayne Haskins or the offensive line itself, the Redskins protection unit simply couldn’t do its job consistently on Sunday.

The blame is spread around, to various degrees, in this case. Dwayne Haskins isn’t perfect with his protection calls yet, and on Sunday, when Washington’s offensive line let someone by, Haskins’ ankle injury prevented him from using the pocket mobility he’s shown in past games.

Haskins needs to be given time to heal his ankle so that he can go back out at one hundred percent, and the offensive line needs to help as much as they can with protections and other aspects of blocking, because it’s still clear that the quarterback and the line aren’t always on the same page.
