1. The playoff pipe dream is over

It was never going to happen anyway. But it’s nice to officially know that the Redskins have no way of winning the NFC East.

Thanks to the poor performance of the division-leading Dallas Cowboys (6-7) and the Philadelphia Eagles (5-7), the 3-9 Redskins were still mathematically alive for the NFC East crown.  Sure, it would have taken quite a bit for the Redskins to make the postseason. They would’ve needed to win out and the Cowboys and Eagles would’ve needed to basically lose out (save for a game they play against each other) but it was still possible.

Now, it’s not. And now, the Redskins will have to start looking to the future as Dan Snyder addresses the gravity of his situation in Washington.

With the playoff pipe dream over, and the Redskins sitting at 3-10, Snyder may finally start to consider sweeping changes. Bruce Allen could be gone. He could target a great offense or defensive mind with motivation skills to help spark the team.

And if the squad can weed out some of the dysfunction and add some top-end talent with a top-five pick, they’ll have a chance to at least get the organization on the right track.

Next. Redskins could see major front office changes. dark

Redskins fans are right not to trust management. But at this point, perhaps Snyder will finally clearly see what he needs to do to fix things for the once-proud franchise.
