Redskins vs. Packers: Keys to victory in Week 14 of the 2019 season

4. Redskins’ secondary must continue to produce turnovers
The Redskins’ secondary has looked like a different unit since the benching of Josh Norman a few weeks ago. Since that time, they’ve intercepted four passes with Fabian Moreau getting his hands on three of them, nearly taking one back against Carolina. He has looked like a new cornerback since moving outside, and Quinton Dunbar has been excellent as well. They also played Kyle Allen and Jeff Driskel the last two weeks. Those two are not Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers is in a league of his own when it comes to protecting the football. On the season, he has just two interceptions in 413 attempts after throwing only two all of last year. He doesn’t make mistakes and punishes teams that do make mistakes with coverages and substitutions. The Redskins were able to have some success limiting him last year but weren’t able to get their hands on an interception.
If the Redskins can get their hands on an errant Arron Rodgers interception, it could go a long way toward an upset. If they can’t make an interception, they should have active hands, and be looking for a forced fumble and recovery. Montae Nicholson was able to come away with a fumble recovery against Detroit. Washington will need those kinds of momentum-shifting plays from their secondary against Rodgers to hang with him.
