3. Redskins must get a solid pass rush on Aaron Rodgers

In the last couple of weeks, the Redskins’ defensive front has finally been looking like the unit many thought it would before the season started. They had a six-sack game against Detroit, and they followed that up with an even better seven-sack performance against the Panthers to bring the two-week total to a whopping 13. Lately, quarterbacks have had a tough time getting comfortable back there against the Redskins.

Greg Manusky has done a much better job the last couple of weeks of disguising his blitzes and stunts, and it’s helped. The talent group has also started to step up, and they have an opportunity to do so again against Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is one of the best in the league at ad-libbing after a play breaks down, so they must stay in their rush lanes and not let him escape.

Washington did a great job of generating pressure on him last year, as he got sacked four times and hit seven more. If they can generate a pass rush on Rodgers similar to what they’ve had the last couple weeks, there’s a good chance they’ll slow down the Packers’ offense. If they can’t get to him, he will feast on the Redskins’ secondary.
