1. The final drive demonstrated Dwayne Haskins‘ potential

Haskins had another up-and-down performance for the Redskins. But that didn’t matter. What did matter was the team’s final offensive drive.

The final drive that Dwayne Haskins ran with the Redskins was a solid one. Yes, there was one mistake where Haskins had a ball batted at the line of scrimmage and nearly saw it picked, but everything else went fairly well.

Haskins had a nice 11-yard scramble early in the drive to get a first down and inch closer to field goal range. Haskins would later complete a short pass to get to the 38-yard line.

Then came one of Haskins’ best throws of the day. On the play, Haskins was able to find Terry McLaurin on a 17-yard catch. Haskins placed the ball perfectly and it was one of his most accurate strikes of the day. McLaurin was easily able to haul it in and get into field goal range. Dustin Hopkins was able to knock the kick in to take home the win.

That type of solid decision making and the throw to McLaurin demonstrated Haskins’ potential. He has had his share of struggles as a rookie, but he has still shown flashes of his talent. This drive was some of his finest work, and hopefully, he will be able to build on it moving forward.
