The Washington Redskins host the Detroit Lions in yet another battle between two franchises that appear to permanently stuck in mediocrity.

Coming off another disappointing home loss, this time to the New York Jets, the Washington Redskins welcome the Detroit Lions to FedExField for a Week 12 matchup between two franchises in last place of their respective divisions.

Don’t let a team’s record fool you. In a game last week between two last-place teams, Washington was completely outplayed by the 2-7 Jets, falling behind 34-3 before two garbage-time touchdowns to make this game look closer than it was, as they dropped to 1-9 on the season.

Much like the Redskins, things have not gone the way many hoped it would for the Lions as they are currently 3-6-1 on the season. They’ve lost a couple of games late, and tied one, and are without franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford as he battles an injury.

This game should be competitive. If the ‘Skins look to get Haskins his first career win, here are five keys to victory against Detroit.
