815. . Wide Receiver. Sooners . CeeDee Lamb. 5. player

Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb almost crept further up into the top five, but his positional value kept him from moving past this point. The Redskins found Terry McLaurin in Round 3 last year, and they’ll be able to add another dynamic talent that late in the 2020 NFL Draft. Still, the top receiver prospects are good enough for the Redskins to carefully assess their potential selection.

Jeudy and Ruggs are both exciting prospects, but Lamb takes home the No. 1 spot for the Redskins specifically. Why is this? Lamb, in my opinion, best compliments the Redskins current weapons. He adds 6-foot-2 size where size is currently lacking, he adds after-the-catch ability where that is currently almost nonexistent, and he adds outrageous focus and strength at the catch point, for a quarterback who’ll want to give his young receivers chances.

Lamb is a very complete receiver prospect, and while he’s not the terrifying route runner that Jeudy is, or the lightning bolt that Ruggs is, he offers a multi-faceted skill set that best fills the Redskins need in the receiving core.

In truth, the Redskins could take any of these three receivers, and there’d be cause for celebration. The modern NFL is all about weapons and how one uses them, and all three of these receivers possess stellar upside. But if the Redskins decide receiver is the way to go in Round 1, Lamb offers the best skill set, in the context of what they already have. He’s an exceptional athlete with the nuance before the catch, dominance at the catch, and the unpredictability after the catch, to keep the defense in a constant state of unbalance.
