Stud No. 2 – Redskins OLB Ryan Kerrigan

Ryan Kerrigan hasn’t been having a great season; in fact, there’s been a strengthening call to draft Chase Young in the top three and replace Kerrigan with the rookie. But Kerrigan temporarily silenced the doubters on Sunday, doubling his 2019 sack total in one game.

Kerrigan took down Sam Darnold twice, and forced a fumble on one of those occasions. Kerrigan was going up against rookie offensive tackle Chuma Edoga, so for him to not produce would have been disappointing. The matchup was clearly in Kerrigan’s favor, but he made the most of it, and gave the Redskins defense sparks of life.

Kerrigan now has 4.0 sacks on the year, and his career total is now up to 88.5. Kerrigan needs 11.5 more sacks to break the century mark. As good a story as it might be, its likelihood will continue to diminish unless Kerrigan can string together a few more performances like his showing against the Jets.
