Completely contain Le’Veon Bell

The other aspect of the Jets offense that the Redskins will have to worry about is Le’Veon Bell.

So far, Bell’s first year with the Jets hasn’t gone well. He hasn’t been able to do much on the ground running behind a terrible offensive line, and he has dealt with a knee injury in recent weeks. But still, Bell is a talented player. And the Redskins can’t afford to let him get going.

Stopping Bell between the tackles should be doable. After all, Bell is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. That said, the Redskins will need to make suer they guard him as a receiver and don’t let him get going that way out of the backfield.

Additionally, the team will have to make sure that in the red zone they commit to stopping the run and force Darnold to throw the ball. Darnold is prone to turnovers in the tightly-packed red zone, but that was less of a problem against the Giants with Bell getting more touches inside the 20. The ‘Skins will have to deny him the ball through the air and deny him the space on the ground to make plays.

If Bell is a non-factor, that will go a long way to helping the Redskins emerge victoriously against the Jets. Greg Manusky will have to devise a way to limit him, as most good teams have done this season.
