Redskins full NFL first-round mock: Is Chase Young the one?
By Ian Cummings
Jameis Winston’s contract is up at the end of the year, and while there’s a chance that the Buccaneers decide to retain him and keep the experiment alive, this quarterback class has a chance to entice them away from such temptations. One prospect, in fact, is particularly intriguing when united with Bruce Arians, and his potential provides great value at No. 8. One could say it’s a pirate’s plunder.
Arians is known for his ability to help relatively turnover-prone quarterbacks settle down. In 2007, his first year as the Steelers offensive coordinator, he helped Ben Roethlisberger halve his interception total, while eclipsing 30 touchdowns. With the Arizona Cardinals, he did the same with Carson Palmer.
Arians has a good track record when it comes to projects, and Jacob Eason is a project with an extraordinarily high ceiling. Eason has solid size and athleticism, and his arm talent is second to none in the 2020 quarterback class. A cheap rookie-deal quarterback with this kind of upside available at No. 8 should make the decision to dump Winston an easy one.
