Redskins full NFL first-round mock: Is Chase Young the one?
By Ian Cummings
It’s a surprise that the draft’s best defensive lineman fell this far. One can go into great depth as to how the fall came to pass, but the Carolina Panthers couldn’t care less. They’re just psyched that it happened.
Auburn’s Derrick Brown has been lauded as a near-elite interior defensive line prospect since the midway point of the 2018 college football season. Brown’s production has been steady from year to year, and his traits have gradually become more and more visible.
Brown offers a long, looming frame that’s filled out well, and he also carries an explosive first step and some upper torso flexibility. For a Panthers defensive line that just added Brian Burns, and has a shaky long-term future on the interior, Brown is exactly what they need.
