Grading the performance of the Redskins quarterbacks through nine weeks
The Washington Redskins had a quarterback question this offseason. While they may have a long-term answer in the fold, the short-term answer hasn’t been great.
So far during the 2019 NFL season, the Washington Redskins have had some major issues at quarterback. They are one of many teams to use multiple passers, but they are of the small group of teams to use three on the season.
At the bye week, it doesn’t seem that they have even settled on who their starter will be moving forward. It seems to be a battle between Case Keenum, who started seven games in the first half of the season and has played about 2/3 of the snaps, and Dwayne Haskins, a first-round pick who started last week against the Bills. Colt McCoy has also made a start, but he seems behind right now.
At this point, it’s disappointing that the Redskins haven’t decided on a direction. They’re out of playoff contention (barring a miracle that certainly isn’t coming) but they seem reluctant to move on with Haskins as the primary starter because he isn’t ready for the job. But in the interim, Keenum has only been decent at best. In fact, they haven’t gotten anything more than decent-at-best play out of any of their passers consistently, so they really are stuck in a never-ending loop at the position.
With that said, here’s an in-depth look at how each passer has performed to start the season, starting with the grade for McCoy.
