2. On offense, the Redskins lack any scoring punch

The Redskins haven’t scored a touchdown in their last 13 quarters of football. They have only 18 total points in their last three games.

In short, that’s not good.

Currently, only two teams have fewer points than the Redskins. They are the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets. Being in the company of those two teams, two of the worst in the league, isn’t good news. And even worse news…both of those teams have already had their bye weeks! So, the Dolphins actually average more points per game than them while the Jets average the same number as the ‘Skins (12).

More from Riggo's Rag

Of course, the Redskins no longer have any delusions of being contenders this season. But still, they should be better offensively than the lowly Jets and Dolphins.

Against the Bills, we saw exactly why the Redskins’ offense is so bad. The team simply can’t do anything once they get into the red zone. Though they were able to move the ball with some success against the Bills, they never really had a chance to do anything in the red-zone. They tried to run the ball, but couldn’t generate anything in close quarters.

Meanwhile, when the team passed, they were able to convert on short attempts, but nothing substantial in tighter coverage. And Haskins took a sack as well that hamstrung the team.

This has been a long-term problem for the Redskins this season. It’s not just related to the Bills game, and it hasn’t mattered which QB has been at the helm. During the bye week, they need to work on their offensive game plan to see if they can find a way to score more. If they can’t, it’s going to be difficult for them to score more than 10 points every week.
