Redskins offense vs. Bills defense

The Redskins quarterback situation remains unsettled heading into the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Case Keenum suffered a concussion in the first half of the team’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. He didn’t practice on Tuesday, and if he can’t go on Sunday, Dwayne Haskins will start in his place.

That said, whether Keenum or Haskins starts, it’s unlikely that there will be much deviation in production against a stout defense like the Buffalo Bills’ unit. Haskins’ struggles with volatility on the field have been well-documented this season, and while Keenum’s stats are prettier on the surface, he’s also been part of the problem, from an efficiency standpoint.

The Bills defense, which consists of a borderline elite secondary and a front seven blossoming into one of the better fronts in the league, should have an easy time bottling up Washington’s passing game, and after that stage, Washington’s one-dimensional rushing attack has never been much of a threat.

While Washington shouldn’t be dominated in the trenches in this matchup, regardless of whether or not Trent Williams comes to play, the Bills’ defensive backfield provides an immense mismatch for Washington’s inconsistent passing attack, and the Bills have a plethora of versatile pieces that can be used in various ways. Their more multi-faceted unit, coached by the formidable Sean McDermott, shouldn’t have much trouble against the Redskins offense.
