The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday. Could the Redskins offload some of their veterans before that day?

The Washington Redskins are officially at the midpoint of the 2019 season. They are 1-7. They’re not going anywhere and appear to be heading for a top-five pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. By all accounts, this is a lost season for the squad.

Because the team isn’t going anywhere, the NFL trade deadline has some added importance for the Redskins. In a year where NFL trades have been happening more frequently and the compensation surrendered to get players has been higher than normal — Mohamed Sanu went for a second-round pick — the Redskins could be poised to offload some of their veterans for draft capital as they look to rebuild.

There’s no guarantee that the Redskins will be trading any of their veterans. Bruce Allen is still in charge and he seems to think that the ‘Skins are close to being a contender. As foolish as that looks in wake of what has happened this season, it’s still important to note that Allen and Daniel Snyder do think that way, so it could stop any potential deals they could make.

Still, the possibility of the team trading some players shouldn’t be ruled out. So here’s a look at some of their potential trade candidates, whether or not they’ll move them, and what they could fetch on the open market.
