3. Redskins total fewer than 30 rushing yards

It seems unlikely that the Redskins will have much success running the ball against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings have the seventh-best run defense in the NFL. They only allow an average of 90 yards per game. The Redskins sport the 24th-overall run offense in the NFL and average 84.7 yards per game.

While Washington’s run offense has gotten going of late — they have over 100 yards in each of their past two games — they still don’t have a lot of healthy talent at running back.

More from Commanders News

Derrius Guice is on IR. Chris Thompson (toe) is out for a second consecutive week. And Adrian Peterson is questionable for the game and will be less than 100 percent if he ends up playing. If they have to rely on Wendell Smallwood and Craig Reynolds to carry the load against the Vikings, they will certainly have trouble getting things going.

All told, the Redskins aren’t going to have much success running the ball. Linval Joseph and the Vikings defensive line will do more than enough to slow down Washington’s running backs. That will mean the team will have to rely more on their passing game to get things going in this one.
