Coming off a 9-0 loss to the 49ers on a waterlogged field, the Redskins now head to Minneapolis, where they’ll be safe from the elements.

What the Washington Redskins won’t be safe from, however, is a Minnesota Vikings squad that’s No. 4 in the nation in total offense, and No. 6 in the nation in total defense. They won’t be safe from the national spotlight, and they’ll need to do everything in their power to walk away from Thursday night with some form of dignity.

For the 1-6 Redskins, winning on Thursday night might constitute an unrealistic goal. The Redskins have struggled to put up points all season, while the Vikings offense has hit a groove as of late. But the Redskins can, at the very least, throw off Kirk Cousins and Kevin Stefanski. Cousins is playing at a very high level right now, but he could be due for an off game.

Thus, the Redskins goal on Thursday might not ultimately be to win, but the Redskins can disrupt the Vikings’ pristine hot streak, and they can head into their mini-bye with an extra dose of confidence. Here are the Redskins three main goals for their primetime matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
