The Redskins are taking on the Vikings in a Thursday night game that has angles of revenge all over it. Here’s an in-depth preview for the game.

For the second time in as many weeks, the Redskins are faced with visions of the past. In Week 7, they were up against Kyle Shanahan, a now-successful head coach who brought back memories of his father’s failed tenure in Washington.

Now, in Week 8, they’ll get a chance to take on Kirk Cousins. And that brings up a chance to relive the Cousins saga.

The Redskins drafted Cousins in the fourth round the same year they took Robert Griffin III No. 2 overall. While some questioned the pick at the time, Cousins turned out to be the better quarterback and became the Redskins’ starter for a few years.

However, Cousins never had long-term security as the starter in Washington. The two sides danced around a potential contract extension and Cousins ended up being slapped with the franchise tag twice before ultimately defecting for the Vikings and signing what was then the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history.

A year and a half removed from that situation, the two teams are in very different spots. But Cousins will view this as a revenge game and an opportunity to show the Redskins what they are missing. With that said, here’s a look at a full preview for the Redskins vs. Vikings game on Thursday night, including matchups to watch, a score prediction, and more.
