The Redskins lost to the San Francisco 49ers to fall to 1-6 on the season. Here are our initial takeaways from the game.

If you had told someone that the Redskins would hold the 49ers to 9 points on Sunday, many would have assumed two things. First, they would think you are crazy. Second, they would have assumed that the Redskins would have won. But, that’s exactly what ended up happening.

The Redskins lost to the 49ers by a score of 9-0. The weather was really crazy — just look at what Mike Person (pictured above) looked like at one point mid-game. Battling the elements all day, the teams were tied up at 0 at halftime and neither scored a touchdown. The game was all about the run and it only ended up lasting 2:36, which makes it the shortest game of the decade.

It’s hard to have too many takeaways from this game. The rain really had a massive impact on the ability of both teams to move the ball. They relied heavily on the run. Neither quarterback threw much. And early on, special teams were an adventure for both sides.

Still, we can learn a bit from this game, and here are the three biggest takeaways from the Redskins’ loss.
