1. Continue to funnel targets to Terry McLaurin

This one is an obvious goal. But Terry McLaurin is a true stud. He is arguably the best player on the Redskins offense despite being a third-round rookie. They need to keep getting him the ball.

Against Miami, McLaurin won with his combination of route running ability and speed. His first two catches went for scores. He simply knows how to get open and the third-round rookie makes the most out of every catch he brings in.

Outside of McLaurin, the Redskins don’t have a lot of pass-catching weapons. Paul Richardson and Trey Quinn have both been mediocre at best so far this season. Jordan Reed is on IR while Chris Thompson is dealing with an injury that could keep him out for a while. So, McLaurin is the only clear difference-maker that the Redskins have in terms of receiving options.

McLaurin has already proven that he can win battles against the likes of Stephon Gilmore. He’ll have to take on the talented duo of Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon on Sunday, but since he beat Gilmore, the league’s best cornerback, for three catches, he should have a chance to perform well against the 49ers.

For the rest of the season, the Redskins have to be focused on getting the ball to McLaurin. He’s their best player and he needs to be given the opportunity to prove himself. They’ll likely keep funnelling targets to him, and if he keeps catching them, he should have a chance to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
