Dud: DC Greg Manusky

The Redskins were doing so well against the Dolphins on the defensive side of the ball.

Until the fourth quarter.

Once again under Manusky, the team’s defense bent and broke late in the game. Every time it seems like the defense has itself figured out under Manusky, they always seem to blow it late. That was nearly the case against Miami on Sunday.

The Redksins defense seemingly took their foot off the gas. They should have stayed aggressive against the Dolphins despite being up two touchdowns. Instead, they ended up sitting back a bit and didn’t really go into attack mode at any point in the fourth quarter. That’s why they allowed the two touchdown drives and weren’t able to get much pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Manusky’s defense simply had too many problems once again. Even in a game where they were mostly good, the negatives nearly outweighed the positives in the end.

Moving forward, Manusky needs to make sure that he gets his team to play hard. He is coaching for his job, but he is continuing to be a weak link for the squad. It doesn’t seem likely that he will last beyond this season, but if he wants to prove himself to try and land a job elsewhere, he’ll need to get his unit to play a lot better down the stretch.
