3. Landon Collins showed exactly what he’s capable of

It always seemed likely that Landon Collins would have a good game against the Dolphins. They aren’t very good, so naturally, the high-priced safety would perform well.

Collins lived up to expectations in the game and proved that he is capable of being a defensive playmaker.

Collins was able to lead the team in tackles again with 12. He also got his first sack of the season after being sent in on a blitz. He was solid against the pass and at one point, he broke up a throw that looked like it was surely going to be a touchdown for the Dolphins.

There were some lowlights for Collins as well. He did miss a tackle and the secondary was picked apart later in the game (more on that in a bit). But ultimately, this game was a big positive for him.  He showed what he can be. A very good tackler who can make key plays in the passing game when needed.

As the season goes along, the Redskins should continue to rely on Collins’ tackling skills and hopefully, he will get better as he gets more integrated into the scheme. While some haven’t been happy with his performance so far, it’s still early in his Redskins career. And games like this prove he can be a difference-maker for the defense.
