Redskins vs. Dolphins: Keys to victory in Week 6 of the 2019 season
By Kyle Hundley
1. Redskins must have a big game from Adrian Peterson
After the Jay Gruden firing, you would be hard-pressed to find another individual more ecstatic about the promotion of Bill Callahan than Adrian Peterson.
Callahan stated during his press conference that he wants to run the ball a lot more. He noted they haven’t been able to run it effectively so far because the backs have not got into a rhythm.
At this stage in Peterson’s career, it is no secret that he is a back who gets better as the game progresses and gets more carries to get into a rhythm. Since being inactive Week 1, Peterson only has 40 carries on the season for 108 yards and just one touchdown. The most carries he has in a single game this year is 12. He has struggled this season as he has not got into a rhythm yet.
The Dolphins have been terrible at stopping the run this year as they are the worst team in the league in a lot of statistical categories. Miami is allowing a league-worst 175.8 yards per game. If there were a game for Peterson to get going and have a vintage AP kind of game, this is the game. If Peterson can’t get going against the league’s worst defense, the last 10 games could be trouble for this run-first team.
