The Washington Redskins and the Miami Dolphins are facing off on Sunday. Here’s a look at the previews, matchups to watch, and a score prediction for Bill Callahan‘s Redskins head coaching debut.

The Redskins and the Dolphins truly are a tale of two tanks. The two teams are a combined 0-9 this season, but despite their records, they are in two very different scenarios.

The Redskins came into the season with hopes of winning games and having a chance to make the playoffs. They kept Jay Gruden around for a sixth year and were hopeful that with fewer injuries, he would have a chance to lead the team to success. Things didn’t go well out of the gate and the team seemingly quit on Gruden before his firing in Week 5. Now, Bill Callahan is left to pick up the pieces.

As for the Dolphins, they entered this season prepared to lose. They hired Brian Flores as their head coach but stripped the roster of their best players, trading Robert Quinn and Laremy Tunsil while letting some big-name free agents walk. And just a couple of games into the season, they traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers. By all accounts, they are tanking and will try to rebuild quickly in the 2020 NFL Draft.

In short, the Dolphins are trying to lose, or are at least setting themselves up for failure. And that’s why they’re 0-4. Meanwhile, the Redskins were trying to win but inadvertently lost their first five games. That’s a much more disappointing result, and it remains to be seen if the team knows that they should be planning for the future at this point in time.

Regardless, these two teams will square off this week and the loser will have the inside track to get the No. 1 overall pick. So, here’s an in-depth preview for what my good friend Walter Cherepinsky called “one of the most important games of the week” in a recent podcast.
