The Riggo’s Rag podcast crew is back together to discuss where the Redskins go after parting ways with Jay Gruden.

The Jay Gruden era is officially over after five-plus seasons. The Redskins parted ways with their head coach early on Monday morning after an 0-5 start to the season. Gruden was widely expected to be skating on thin ice, and he ended up getting the ax before the midpoint of the season even arrived.

It was inevitably going to happen. But even still, there is a lot to examine in the wake of this major development.

With Gruden gone, the Redskins are operating with Bill Callahan as their interim coach. Kevin O’Connell is going to become their primary play-caller moving forward, and he will get serious consideration for the future head coaching job if he does well.

There’s a lot to discuss about these decisions by the Redskins. On this episode of the Riggo’s Rag Podcast, I am joined by Conor Forrest and Matt Hines as they break down Gruden’s legacy, the interim plan, and the top potential candidates for the Redskins to replace Gruden with.

Included are some discussions about:

  • Bruce Allen’s comments during his press conference
  • Who are the top candidates for the Redskins head coaching job?
  • Is Mike McCarthy worth exploring as an option?
  • What should Washington do about Dwayne Haskins?

We’ll soon see what will happen with the Redskins moving forward. This seems like a lost season for them, but perhaps if they can see growth from O’Connell and Haskins, there will be a silver lining. Regardless, the Gruden era is over and the ‘Skins are moving on. And what comes next is anyone’s guess.
