Callahan acknowledged second-half issues

One of the biggest issues for the Redskins this season has been their inability to play 60 quality minutes. And to fix that, Callahan seems to be focusing on the second half.

The Redskins have had some tight games at halftime this year. They led the Eagles in the season opener and they trailed the Patriots by just 5 points in Week 5, but ended up losing both games. Callahan wants to change that.

Notably, Callahan is looking at the defense to improve in the second half. While he confirmed that there wouldn’t be any changes to the defensive staff, much to the chagrin of many fans who would like to see Greg Manusky go, he did say that being more efficient and closing out the game in the second half would be important.

Perhaps this is one of the main reasons that the Redskins are looking to use a more ground-dominant offense; to improve efficiency in the second half, keep the defense off the field, and really open up all channels of attack. We’ll see if that has an impact, but it definitely seems like Callahan is keying in on the second half as the team’s biggest area for improvement.
