4. The Reality Is:  Though there is no reason for optimism about the outcome of the game, there are lots of reasons to watch.

Terry McLaurin should be back in action, developing and honing his skill against one of the best defenses in football, which is valuable experience no matter how bad your team is. The young members of the secondary will have a chance get valuable reps against an elite offense… and though I expect them to get torched, they will have the chance to really learn from this game.

Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, Matt Ioannidis, and Ryan Kerrigan get to try again to capture some of their potential as a unit, and those young guys get to develop against an elite offensive line. Dustin Hopkins and Tress Way get to hold down the only spots where the Redskins are better than the Patriots on paper.

But most of all, we get to watch what very well could be the final debacle that gets Dan Snyder angry or impatient enough to clean house in the front office and coaching staff. Not that he will necessarily act immediately (if at all), but when the Redskins are embarrassed yet again at home this weekend in front of a hostile crowd, those of us loyal fans who suffer through it may just have the satisfaction of knowing it was bad enough to finally inspire real and deep-seeded change in an organization that once was what the Patriots have become.

Maybe, just maybe, we’ll look back on this weekend’s debacle at the hands of the once-lowly Patriots and say, “That was the grain of sand that tipped the scale. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. That was the crack that finally compromised the dam and let the floodwaters in to wash the stench off this franchise”. The Reality Is, that might be all we can hope for as Redskins fans… this weekend and forevermore until it finally happens.
