Redskins vs. Patriots: Preview, matchups to watch, score prediction

Redskins offense vs. Patriots defense
If you didn’t need more words to convince you of the Redskins impending doom, here are some statistics. The Redskins are tied for first in the NFL with seven interceptions thrown on offense. The Patriots defense leads the NFL with ten total interceptions. They have twice as many picks as the next best defense.
Combine the most opportunistic defense in the NFL, run by one of the greatest coaching minds ever to grace the game, with one of the most volatile passing offenses in the league, and what do you get? I’d wager nothing good, at least for the offense.
The Patriots have the personnel and the coaching to best the Redskins in most areas in this department. Washington’s receivers could continue to find some separation, but New England will hit Washington with a bunch of different looks, to make sure they don’t become too predictable.
One aspect to keep in eye on, in this department, is the Redskins quarterback situation. At this point, it could be either of the team’s three signal callers, but Gruden seems to be the most bullish on Colt McCoy. Case Keenum has shown himself to be ineffective this season, and Dwayne Haskins might not be ready yet (of course, were he to receive the full attention and reps of a starter, maybe things would change). With McCoy nearing full health, he could be the one to take the start in New England. If he’s still not available, things get a little more complicated.
