The Washington Redskins are going to be without two offensive starters on Sunday against the New York Giants and they could be down more as Terry McLaurin and Brandon Scherff are questionable.

The Redskins have been hit with some more disappointing injury news ahead of their Sunday afternoon clash with the New York Giants. They are going to be without two offensive starters while two are questionable, including one of their rookie stars.

According to the team’s official injury report, Terry McLaurin is questionable for the game against the Giants. McLaurin suffered a hamstring injury during Thursday’s practice and was unable to suit up on Friday. Since hamstring injuries are tough to recover from, it’s quite possible that McLaurin won’t be able to suit up and at the best, he is a game-time decision.

If McLaurin is out, Paul Richardson and Trey Quinn will become the top two receivers for the Redskins offense. They could have a chance to feast against a porous Giants secondary and Case Keenum will be looking their ways early and often. Kelvin Harmon, Steven Sims Jr., and Robert Davis will see increased action if McLaurin can’t play.

In addition to McLaurin’s potential absence, the team will be without Jordan Reed for a fourth-straight week to open the season as he continues to recover from a concussion. At this point, the question is more about if he’ll play again as opposed to when. Vernon Davis and Jeremy Sprinkle will continue on as the top two tight end options on the active roster while the recently signed Jerome Cunningham will likely serve as the team’s third-string option.

Those aren’t the only issues the ‘Skins have on offense. Both Chase Roullier (knee) and Brandon Scherff (ankle) missed practice on Friday. Roullier has already been declared out while Scherff, like McLaurin, is a game-time decision. Tony Bergstrom, a journeyman who has played poorly so far this season, will replace Roullier at center while rookie fourth-round pick Wes Martin will get a chance to replace Scherff at guard if Scherff can’t play. Either way, with Bergstrom starting at center, the interior line is certainly weakened.

The lone bright spot for the offense is that Case Keenum (foot) will be able to play on Sunday. He missed Wednesday’s walkthrough with the injury but has been able to practice the past couple of days. He’ll have to make do without his top weapons and with lesser protection, but it’s better to have him in this situation than to throw Dwayne Haskins in with a starting offense that is less than full strength, especially in a divisional road game.

On the defensive side of the ball, it looks like Quinton Dunbar (knee) and Cassanova McKinzy (hip) are trending toward playing on Sunday. Getting Dunbar back will help the team’s beleaguered secondary to better match up against the Giants weapons provided that he isn’t hampered by the leg injury. Either way, his presence gives the secondary extra depth which is a good thing.

Five players to watch in Redskins vs. Giants Week 4. dark. Next

We’ll soon see how the Redskins fare against the Giants on Sunday. But if they’re going to win, they’re going to have to do it with an offensive unit that is seriously banged-up. That won’t be easy, even against a defense as bad as that of the Giants.
