Redskins: Riggo’s Rag Podcast – Where do we go after Bears loss?
By Ian Cummings
So… where do we go from here?
New lows can be hard to come by for the NFL’s worst franchises, but the Washington Redskins continue to set the standard. In a season where the Dolphins are willfully tanking, the Redskins are making a serious case to be the most sorrowful team in sports. And unintentionally, at that.
The Redskins 31-15 loss to the Chicago Bears accentuated the current state of the franchise. The coaching was predictably uninspiring. The team’s talent, from Landon Collins to Ryan Kerrigan, was ultimately wasted. And the fan base’s erosion was on full display, embodied by a home stadium inhabited by a Bears majority.
The Redskins continue to lose. And followers continue to give up.
But we’ve seen variations of this story before. When things get bad enough, things will change. And while it’s worth stating that without substantial change in the front office, few coaching changes will withstand the test of time. But the future in Ashburn is still a captivating spectacle, regardless. It’s the promise of chaos and restructuring, that keeps us from looking away.
So after Washington’s disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears, where does the franchise go from here? Where do fans go from here? And what should we expect in the coming weeks? Those questions, among other things, constituted the composite subject of the latest episode of the Riggo’s Rag Podcast.
This time around, I was joined by Riggo’s Rag contributors Conor Forrest and Matt Hines, and as we sat around the round table, we discussed Washington’s revealing start to the season, how our perceptions of this team have changed, and what the future might hold, for all its uncertainty. For all the talk about change, no change has happened yet. However, in the coming weeks, if the breaking point hits, all this change we allude to could become reality. Stick with us, as we wait, in silent trepidation.
