Stud: WR/KR Steven Sims Jr.

Steven Sims Jr. made the Redskins roster as an undrafted free agent. And it’s easy to see why.

Sims has made an impact on special teams in this game and had a really nice 45-yard kick return that was one of the lone bright spots for the Redskins amid a Chicago scoring streak in the first half. He helped to flip the field position and while the ‘Skins couldn’t do anything with it, it was still a noteworthy contribution.

Elsewhere, Sims contributed a couple of catches for 24 yards on the offensive side of the ball. He looks right at home as a gadget/speed weapon right now and as he continues to develop at the NFL level, he could become an even more productive playmaker. He has the upside needed to eventually be a speed-based slot starter and could continue to see some action as a weapon out of the backfield.

There haven’t been a lot of bright spots for the Redskins so far this season. Sims is one of them. He’s definitely a diamond in the rough that the team has unearthed and if they can continue to find innovative ways to use him, he could make an impact for the team. And either way, his ability on special teams surely has proven to be valuable so far for Washington.
