2. Cole Holcomb logs a sack, an interception, and 10-plus tackles

One of the most impressive Redskins in the season opener was Cole Holcomb. The rookie played in 67 percent of the team’s defensive snaps and seems to be a long-term starting linebacker for the team. He overtook Shaun Dion Hamilton and Josh Harvey-Clemons to take on the main role for the squad.

Holcomb tied for the team lead in tackles with nine against the Eagles. And if he continues to get playing time, he could have a chance to log double-digit tackles against the Cowboys.

The Cowboys figure to ride Ezekiel Elliott for at least some portion of this game. And as they try to get him going, the Redskins could unleash the athletic Holcomb and try to get him coming downhill to make stops. If Holcomb can help slow Zeke, he should break the 10-tackle mark. His speed and instincts will give him a chance to be a playmaker in this contest.

In addition to his tackle potential, Holcomb could end up being a sack threat if Greg Manusky tries to stay aggressive and dial-up some blitzes, especially if Jonathan Allen is out. That will keep the Cowboys guessing and if Holcomb gets a chance to rush the passer, he could notch a sack.

In short, Holcomb could be a big playmaker against the Cowboys. And if he continues to build on his early-season success, he could have 10 tackles, a sack, and may even have a chance to grab an interception as he patrols the middle of the defense.

If Holcomb can achieve a stat line like that, Redskins fans will be buzzing more about his potential and will be focused on the excellent results of the talented rookie.
