DL Ryan Bee

It was always going to be a long-shot for Bee to make the roster, but the undrafted free agent out of Marshall did everything he could to make the squad. During the preseason, he showed off his capabilities as a pass rusher and was a well-rounded performer.

Some may be concerned about Bee getting scooped up on waivers, and that concern could be valid. After all, Bee was a consistent performer during the preseason and his time in college and also possesses a lanky 6-foot-7 frame. That size will make him a terrific developmental project for an NFL team, and if any squad has a need on the defensive line, he could make a sensible acquisition.

At the same time, Bee still does need to do some work at the NFL level. He could stand to add some extra strength and a lot of his success came against backups. As it stands, he would probably be a depth option for any team that would take him, and it’s fair to wonder if he would make as big of an impact against starting players.

Bee should be one of the Redskins’ top priorities after cuts. Retaining him would be a great move as it would give Jim Tomsula an extra option to develop along the defensive line. And in the event of any injuries, Tomsula would be able to get the most out of Bee.

You can’t teach size in the NFL. Bee’s frame is enough to warrant keeping him around. And if the team had a weaker defensive line group, he probably would have had a realistic chance to make the final 53-man roster.
