No. 2 – Ryan Bee does enough to earn a roster spot

Ryan Bee has steadily risen up the ranks this preseason. In Week 1, he made a good first impression with a sack. In Week 2, he brought solid pressure and improved in run defense. And in Week 3, he led the team in total tackles.

Now, with Week 4 coming up, Bee has an opportunity to end his preseason on a high note, and he has incentive to do well. Caleb Brantley recently went down in practice with an ankle tweak, and while he was fine afterwards, his foot has been an issue so far this offseason.

If Brantley isn’t one-hundred percent to start the season, the Redskins could consider keeping Bee as a sixth defensive lineman, in order to somewhat offset the uncertainty there. They’re not to the point of making either of those decision yet, but with another strong performance, Bee can nudge them in the right direction.

Playing against Baltimore’s backup offensive line unit, Bee, who will likely be in the starting lineup for this game and receive extensive playing time, should continue to produce on the trend he’s built this preseason. And ultimately, he’ll do enough to secure a roster spot, whether it comes at the expense of Brantley’s availability, or another player.
