Five bold predictions for the Redskins preseason finale vs. Baltimore
By Ian Cummings
No. 3 – Craig Reynolds for offensive MVP
Don’t look now, but Craig Reynolds is the Redskins leading rusher so far this preseason, with 65 total yards, and with both Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice almost guaranteed to not play in the finale, Reynolds has the team preseason rushing title locked up.
That said, it’s going to take a lot more than getting 100 total yards in four preseason games for Reynolds to win a roster spot. Reynolds was signed as an undrafted free agent because of his versatility as a weapon out of the backfield. He provides quickness as a rusher, but he also has utility as a pass catcher and a return man. We’ve only seen one dimension of that so far this preseason.
In Game 4, it’s now or never for Reynolds to show what he can bring to the 53-man roster, and with the starters out, he’ll get plenty of action. This week, we’ll see Reynolds involved in each facet of the offense, and at the end of the day, he’ll make a compelling case to stick around, whether on the roster as a backup scat back, or on the practice squad.
