No. 3 – Redskins ILBs

It seems lazy, I know. But I genuinely could figure out which linebacker to pick, so I just picked all of them. And it’s true. They all deserve attention, heading into Week 3.

As of now, the only fully healthy inside linebackers on the Redskins roster are Jon Bostic, Marquis Flowers, B.J. Blunt, and Gary Johnson. Only one of those players is considered a roster lock, or even  a player with a strong chance to make the roster.

Other likely roster inclusions, such as Shaun Dion Hamilton, Josh Harvey-Clemons, and Cole Holcomb have all suffered injuries over the past two weeks. Hamilton suffered a chest injury in the preseason debut, while Holcomb tweaked his shoulder. Both were kept out of the team’s Week 2 contest. In that game, Harvey-Clemons shined for a second straight outing, but he left banged up, and he’s since been in the league’s concussion protocol.

Hamilton and Holcomb were seen partaking in individual drills at Redskins practice a few days ago, but there isn’t a lot of clarity, as to who will be ready to line up next to Jon Bostic at linebacker. In fact, a full-time starter for the 2019 season hasn’t been picked yet, and these next few weeks could be pivotal in deciding who gets the role. Injuries could unfairly play a part, as they often do.
