No. 4 – Redskins RB Derrius Guice

If you guys have been reading here for over a year and a half, then you remember how high I was on Derrius Guice. I loved Guice’s contact balance and his mentality as a rusher, and in the shadow of Saquon Barkley, his impressive athleticism as a prospect was sometimes under-appreciated.

Guice, unfortunately, had his rookie season robbed from him by an ACL tear, but now, over a year removed from that incident, Guice is nearing readiness to play, and while he hasn’t been officially cleared by the team yet, the tentative plan is to give him limited reps in Week 3, to at least re-introduce him to contact before the regular season hits.

Guice likely won’t play much, as it didn’t take long for his luck to run out in last year’s preseason debut against the Patriots. But it also didn’t take long for his talent to become apparent. Be on the lookout for No. 29 on Thursday; he brings a different pace and urgency to the running back position.
