1. DL Ryan Bee

Ryan Bee was my favorite of the undrafted free agents that the Redskins inked after the 2019 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-7 Bee was a productive interior pass rusher at Marshall and above all else, he was consistent, notching at least 4.0 sacks in each of his fourth seasons with the Thundering Herd. It was somewhat surprising a team didn’t take a chance on him in the draft, and the Redskins may have lucked out as a result.

So far in the preseason, Bee has flashed. In the first preseason game, he was disruptive in the second half and notched a sack on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half. In the second preseason game, he continued to perform well and had a nice spin move that nearly resulted in a sack of Jeff Driskel. He has certainly done enough to convince Jim Tomsula to take a chance on him whether that’s on the active roster or the practice squad.

Many are assuming that Bee would have a tough time making the Redskins because of the depth they have on the defensive line. That said, the team did carry six defensive linemen for most of the season last year (Ziggy Hood and Stacy McGee both were on the roster at various points) so Bee could have a chance to make it if they keep that number once again.

Additionally, Caleb Brantley is dealing with a Lisfranc injury at the moment. Those injuries can be tricky and as Redskins fans learned from Jonathan Allen‘s rookie year, they can linger. If the ‘Skins don’t want to rush him back, keeping Bee to serve as the fifth interior defensive lineman would make quite a lot of sense.

If Bee can have one more great game, that could be enough to convince the Redskins to keep him on the active roster. He will remain with the team in one way or another barring a surprise.
