New York Jets

Talent-wise, the Jets are an ascending team with a great deal of promise. Sam Darnold has a chance to be a part of the next generation of elite signal callers, and on defense, the Jets have stars in the making on all three levels.

That said, while the Jets talent-base is very exciting, the coaching staff has the opposite effect. Adam Gase is a supposed offensive guru who was an enigma at best in Miami. His offensive coordinator, Dowell Loggains, has consistently generated league-worst numbers from his units. And Gregg Williams is a defensive coordinator who’s bounced around the league, due to his personality and stringent defensive ideals, which sometimes get in the way of personnel fit.

The Jets may flash their potential often in 2019, but across the entire season, they’ll ultimately underachieve, due to coaching. The ascent of the Bills won’t help them, and the continued dominance of the Patriots will render them inert.
