Redskins seventh-round picks

Seventh-round picks normally don’t command high expectations, but James Madison product Jimmy Moreland has been the exception. After racking up six interceptions in pre-training camp activities this offseason, Moreland entered training camp amidst a whirlwind of unabashed hype.

That hype had once proclaimed Moreland the starting slot cornerback, and while it has died down a bit, Moreland has still flashed the closing speed and ball skills to be a consistent contributor on defense. Fabian Moreau’s job in the slot should be safe, but Moreland will be an excellent rotational cover man, and he’s continued to show off his penchant for making plays in camp.

Jordan Brailford, the Mr. Irrelevant of the Redskins 2019 draft class, hasn’t been available for much of training camp; he started on the PUP list and was only activated recently. However, in his short time on the field, he was able to at least show off some of the raw athletic traits that got him selected. He has impressive burst off the line, and with more development, he could have a solid rotational role in Washington’s defense.
