In the midst of a heatwave sweeping the nation, Kelvin Harmon posted a tweet that all Redskins players and football players anywhere can relate to.

It’s been hot in Washington D.C. lately. In fact, it’s been pretty hot all over the country. It’s not unusual for this to be the case at this point in July — the dog days of summer. But it definitely can have an impact on people and football players in particular.

NFL training camps have been opening in recent days during the heat, and players have been practicing in the heat as a result. The Washington Redskins haven’t yet opened their camp, but there are some players that are getting prepared for that.

One of those players is rookie Kelvin Harmon. And Harmon is one of those players that is feeling the heat. Harmon sounded off on those complaining about the temperature in the upper 90s that are bordering on 100 degrees and offered them this thought.

Harmon has a point here. NFL players will certainly relate to this and definitely have to do everything they can to stay hydrated in the coming weeks. Training staffs and coaching staffs will have to keep a close eye on players too, and they certainly won’t want to overwork their guys in the extreme heat.

Luckily for the Redskins, the heatwave is expected to break in the Washington area at some point on Monday and Tuesday. The Redskins start training camp on Wednesday and the high temperature in Richmond for that day is expected to be 83. That should certainly be comfortable for football activities, so it’s a good thing that the team isn’t starting camp any earlier.

Hopefully, that weather will be cool enough for Harmon. The sixth-round rookie out of NC State has enormous potential, and many thought he would be a Day 2 pick. However, he ended up falling into the Redskins’ lap for this reason.

Harmon had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in his final two years at NC State, has a big body, and is great at making contested catches. Given the weak state of the Redskins receiving corps, he could have a chance to step up and that will begin in training camp. If he can show well, he may prove to be the steal that Redskins fans are hoping he’ll be.
