Christian’s main competition at Redskins training camp

Christian should be in the driver’s seat of the backup tackle battle, but he has some intriguing opponents who could steal snaps from Christian if the latter doesn’t develop as planned.

Ereck Flowers is the most notable backup, as he has extensive starting experience at tackle, although, in the words of Thanos, it might only be experience “if you consider failure experience”. That said, Flowers has the size and the first-round pedigree, and if he doesn’t make a move to guard, he could factor into the equation at tackle.

Timon Parris is another intriguing player, as he has perhaps the best physical profile of the bunch. Standing at 6-foot-6, 315, he has an impressive frame, and he moves well for that size. He entered the NFL as a raw prospect, and he carries that label into 2019 training camp. He’s had a bit of a head start on Christian, as he hasn’t had to recover from an injury all offseason, but he was less polished coming out, so those factors may cancel out.

Wallace and Hance both have the size to develop as well, but until proven otherwise, they’re a tier below Christian and his counterparts. Christian will have to grow in numerous areas, but he can separate himself from this group with time and training.
