Christian’s 2018 season with the Redskins

Christian was scrutinized heavily for his rookie season, and perhaps unfairly. After all, it was his first year in the NFL, and he needed to get used to the speed of the NFL.

Unfortunately for Christian, he didn’t get a chance to do so. He did play in relief of Trent Williams for a limited spell, but in his game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10, he was injured on his third snap. His injury ended up being a torn MCL, and he was ruled out for the rest of the season.

In total, Christian played just one full game, against the Atlanta Falcons, and he saw the field for 43 total snaps. In his only full game, he was penalized twice on 40 snaps, and he let by three pressures on 33 total pass blocking snaps (Per Pro Football Focus), so it’s easy to see why he left such a bad impression in his limited field experience.

That said, Christian has yet to turn 23 years old, so he still has a chance to develop beyond his current state. This was a long-term project for the Redskins, and in 2019 training camp, they’ll be faced with a crucial precipice in his development.
